5 tips to get inspired

Inspiration can be hard to come by and usually when you need it most. I can write out a list of things that inspire ME, but I can't promise that they will inspire you. Here are a few things that help my creativity flow, enjoy.
Find the time of day or night that you feel the pull to create the most. For me that usually lands between 1am and 6am.... usually when everyone else is asleep my mind is full.
A nice warm drink. I drink my weight in coffee, which means I drink way too much of the stuff! But it does help relax me. Try treating yourself to a cup of hot tea or cocoa.
Background noise. I am a rarity, I can't stand silence. I always play music or the tv in the background. Try nature sounds or classical and see what happens.
When I feel writers block I have to step away. Nothing good comes from staring at a blank computer screen. You can't force the words from your head and expect them to flow naturally. Take a walk, read a book, or watch a sitcom. Your brain needs a break every now and then.
Most importantly, write what you WANT to write. I see too many writers attempting to cram themselves into a genre that they are not comfortable with because it's popular and may lead to more sales of their books. Personally I could never write a suspense or thriller, it's just not in me to do so. I get lost in the romantic fantasies of what ifs and I am perfectly okay with that.
I hope you have found something worth remembering in this little list. Writing should be a passion and something you want to do, the moment it turns into work is the moment that spark is lost and your readers will notice it in the work you do.
